Was among the top five largest purchasers of clean energy credits in 2008 in the EPA's Green Power Partner program, committing to offset 100% of its energy use. Has worked to reduce the amount of material in its packaging and containers; but the 2008 Beverage Container Scorecard and Report, As You Sow, a not-for-profit group that promotes corporate accountability, ranked PepsiCo third behind Coca Cola and Anheuser Busch in overall performance.
